Mac Jones was at Alabama for a memorable 4-year run bookended by national championships in 2017 and 2020. Nick Saban built some special teams, and those squads had plenty of personalities.

During a recent appearance on Bussin’ With the Boys, Jones was asked to name the “craziest” teammate at Alabama. He didn’t need long to come up with the answer of Tony Brown.

“His name’s Crazy Tony. Like he was a stud at Alabama,” Jones said. “He played on that defense with like Daron Payne, all those guys, Minkah (Fitzpatrick). He played in the league for a little bit. But he was the man, like scout team, me and him every day, like going at it like pretty much fighting. He was just crazy dude. I’d throw a dig route over the middle, and he would just crush our scout team receiver like Mac Hereford.

“Like he would go over the middle, and Crazy Tony would just crush him and Saban would just look the other way. I’m, like, ‘Dude, he just got smoked, like what are we doing?’ But he was a great teammate.”

Jones went on to confirm that he found Brown to be enjoyable off the practice field. Brown and Jones only had the 1 season of overlap in 2017. Brown played in the NFL from 2018-24, signing as undrafted free agent. Jones is entering his 6th professional season, and second with the San Francisco 49ers.
