We are through 3 weeks of college football, and former Alabama running back Mark Ingram has released his top 3 overall quarterbacks via The Triple Option podcast.
All 3 quarterbacks come from undefeated teams, and 2 of them are from the SEC. In first place, Ingram has Miami quarterback Carson Beck. Beck has been spectacular so far this season. He’s accounted for 812 yards through the air, 7 touchdowns, and just 2 interceptions.
Beck has led Miami to wins over Notre Dame and USF and will be looking for another big game as Miami takes on rival Florida Gators this Saturday.
In second place, Ingram has former Washington State and current Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer. Mateer and Beck are both No. 1 and No. 2 in Heisman Trophy odds, according to BetMGM. Mateer has been a beast both through the air and on the ground. He has 944 yards of passing and 161 yards of rushing. He’s got 9 total touchdowns to 3 interceptions.
Rounding out the top 3, Ingram has Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed. Reed has been great so far this season. He struggled in Texas A&M’s most recent game against Notre Dame, completing 46% of his passes and 1 interception. He still led the Aggies to a win, scoring 41 points en route. Reed has accounted for 869 yards through the air and 142 yards on the ground. He has 10 total touchdowns to just 1 interception.
