Mark Ingram has some great memories of playing for Nick Saban, but there was one from his recruitment that is still hilariously blunt.
Ingram, the former Alabama running back who went on to have a productive NFL career as he finished his 11th season last year, shared on Twitter spaces how Saban presented his college opportunity.
“If you come to Alabama you can become a great player,” Ingram recalled Saban saying. “If you don’t, it’s your own fault.”

Ingram, in fact, became a great player, and became the first Alabama player to win the Heisman Trophy as he helped lead the Crimson Tide to the 2009 national title. Ingram played in 39 games, with 24 starts, at Alabama, and he rushed for 3,261 yards and 42 TDs, with 46 overall scores.
An All-SEC selection, Ingram was a consensus All-American first-team selection, and finished as a finalist for the Maxwell, Doak Walker and Walter Camp Player of the Year awards.
His sophomore season was his best, as he led the SEC and ranked fourth nationally with a school-record 1,658 yards (sixth most in SEC history) and 17 TDs.
