Mark Stoops could have 1 of his former Kentucky quarterbacks make his first NFL start this weekend.

With Ryan Tannehill dealing with an ankle injury, it is being reported by the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that the Tennessee Titans are expected to tab rookie Will Levis as the starting quarterback against the Atlanta Flacons.

Stoops beamed with pride when addressing the scenario of Levis getting the nod. Levis was initially behind both Tannehill and Malik Willis on the depth chart before this decision.

Stoops says Big Blue Nation is behind Levis every step of the way on his NFL journey.

“I just have a lot of faith and confidence in Will and great appreciation for what he did for us and what a great person and leader for us first and foremost and just wish him the best,” Stoops said. “There’s a bunch of people here in Lexington that care about him and are rooting for him so if that’s the case, I’m sure he’ll do a great job and will be well prepared.”

The Titans selected Levis with the No. 33 selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. Levis transferred from Penn State to Kentucky in 2021 and spent 2 seasons with the program. Levis compiled 43 touchdown passes and 23 interceptions along with 11 rushing scores for Kentucky.
