Vince Marrow’s departure from Kentucky for Louisville became official on Thursday. Now, Mark Stoops has acknowledged losing his long-time assistant to UK’s biggest rival.
Stoops issued a statement thanking Marrow for his contributions to Wildcat football and extending well wishes.
We’re thankful for Coach Marrow’s contributions to our program over the past 12 years,” Stoops said. “As we look to the new season, and a new era of college football, we’re focused on the opportunities at hand. We will continue to build a roster and staff that balances talent, experience, maturity, physicality and the attitude it takes to win in the nation’s most competitive conference. I wish my friend and colleague nothing but the best.
News of Marrow’s move from Kentucky to Louisville broke Monday. College football observers were stunned that Marrow was leaving just months ahead of fall camp after 12 seasons working with Stoops in Lexington.

Marrow is set to be Louisville’s Executive Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting. He will oversee roster management, recruiting and the transfer portal in a GM-like role on Jeff Brohm’s staff.
