Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats have struggled on the offensive side of the ball the past couple of years, and the start of 2025 has continued a similar trend.

Zach Calzada started the first 2 games at quarterback, but is only 25-of-53 for 234 yards and 1 interception. He left the game against Ole Miss with a shoulder injury. While a health status hasn’t been updated yet, it now looks like Stoops is making the decision to go with Cutter Boley against Eastern Michigan in Week 3 according to Kentucky Sports Radio.

Stoops didn’t say during the SEC coaches teleconference that Boley would be starting, he did state that Boley has taken all of the first-team reps this week.

Calzada was injured in the fourth quarter, and Boley came in with a chance for the Wildcats to possibly tie the game. He nearly delivered on a pass to Willie Rodriguez, but the pass was incomplete and Kentucky ended up losing the game.

Boley entered college as a 4-star prospect according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was the No. 344 player in the 2024 class, and the No. 24 quarterback in the class. Stoops has multiple times said he is the quarterback of the future for the Wildcats, and the future might be on Saturday.

Kickoff against Eastern Michigan will be on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
