Marty Smith and Ryan McGee were in the Halloween spirit on Saturday, as the two were in Atlanta for the game between Florida and Georgia. For their costumes, Smith went as legendary Florida coach Steve Spurrier, while McGee went as Kirby Smart.
The game is normally played in Jacksonville, but there are renovations to the stadium, with the game being played in Atlanta on Saturday and Tampa next year.
Spurrier coached against the Bulldogs 12 times in his UF career, going 11-1 from 1990 to 2001. Not only did the Gators win nearly every time, but they also dominated, as 9 of the 11 wins for Spurrier were by at least 11 points. Smart has been nearly as dominant, with the Bulldogs being 8-2 since he became the coach in 2016, winning his last five games in the matchup.
The game on Saturday is a big one, as both teams are right in the thick of things in both the SEC and the College Football Playoff. Florida coach Jon Sumrall is in his first year as the coach in Gainesville, and he could use some of that Spurrier dominance to help the Gators stay in the race.
