Miami has its 2027 quarterback.

Friday, during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN, Arlington Heights (Ill.) Montini Catholic quarterback Israel Abrams announced his verbal commitment to the Hurricanes and head coach Mario Cristobal. Abrams is a 6-foot-4 passer and a 4-star prospect.

He chose The U over Auburn, Florida State, Kentucky, and Purdue.

“I think that’s a place that I can pursue my dreams and do something I want to do, which is just win,” Abrams said on the show. “Win games for my teammates because I’m about just getting my guys better. When I get to Miami, my only thing is to try to win a national championship every year.”

Abrams is the third-ranked quarterback recruit in the 2027 class, according to the industry-generated 247 Composite. He is the 44th-ranked prospect regardless of position, and the second-ranked player from the state of Illinois.

As a junior during the 2025 season, Abrams earned the MaxPreps Illinois Player of the Year honor after leading Montini Catholic to a 14-0 record and a 4A state title. He threw for 4,072 yards with 40 touchdowns while completing 68.5% of his passes. In the state title game, he threw for 425 yards and scored 5 total touchdowns. Over the last 2 years, he has 69 passing scores against only 9 interceptions.

Abrams becomes the eighth known pledge for Miami’s 2027 class. The group ranks in the top 10 nationally. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
