Miami signs lucrative $200M+ contract to return to Nike as apparel provider, per report

Miami has been an Adidas school since 2015 after opting to leave Nike. However, reports on Wednesday say the Hurricanes are returning to Nike in what goes down as one of the most lucrative apparel deals in college sports history.
The contract is being reported as a 10-year deal worth more than $200 million. Adidas tried to match the contract, but wasn’t able to beat Nike’s bid.
The Adidas contract was a 12-year deal that paid the Hurricanes $6.5 million per year, but there wasn’t an apparel deal with it. In the new Nike deal, Miami will be getting $20 million per year, with nearly 2/3 of it being cash and the rest in apparel.
A big reason why the Hurricanes are switching is because of what Mario Cristobal has done with the football team. The Hurricanes went through a long period where they weren’t ‘The U’ of the past. However, since Cristobal has come back to Miami, he has the team back as one of the best teams in the country, with the team losing in the national championship to Indiana last season.
For the rest of the school year, the Hurricanes will be wearing Adidas. The deal won’t officially begin until the start of the 2027 football season.
