Micah Hudson, who just finished his first year of college football at Texas Tech, announced on Sunday night that he will play his sophomore season at Texas A&M.

This is a great get for the Aggies, though Hudson’s freshman numbers don’t exactly jump off the page. Hudson, who stands at 6-foot, 203 lbs, totaled just 8 receptions for 123 yards in 2024. However, Hudson is a former 5-star prospect and was considered one of the best receivers in the Class of 2024 – the No. 16 overall prospect in the cycle according to 247Sports, to be exact. On top of that, he was the highest-rated recruit in Red Raiders history, dating back to 2006 when rankings were first introduced for 247.

Hudson has 3 seasons of eligibility remaining.

Hudson saw one start with the Red Raiders, mostly sitting behind Florida transfer Caleb Douglas. He suffered a lower leg injury that kept him out of the final 4 games of the season.

With Conner Weigman now transferred out of the program, Texas A&M’s current projected starter for next season is Marcel Reed. We’ll see if Mike Elko and Co. bring in a transfer out of the portal to compete for the starting job alongside Reed who, though a stout rushing QB, has struggled with accuracy across his short college career.
