Michigan has a pair of coordinators to replace this offseason, but it seems the Wolverines are nearing a hire on the defensive side of the ball.
Per college football insider Pete Thamel, the Wolverines are targeting an SEC defensive coordinator.
Per the tweet below, Jesse Minter, who spent the 2021 season as Clark Lea’s defensive coordinator at Vanderbilt, is expected to be the new DC under Jim Harbaugh:
Sources: Michigan is expected to hire Vanderbilt’s Jesse Minter as the school’s new defensive coordinator. He’s a former Ravens assistant who brings experience in defensive system.

Minter has plenty of experience with the Harbaugh family, having served under John Harbaugh as a Baltimore Ravens’ defensive assistant from 2017 to 2020.
Thamel reports that Vanderbilt will potentially promote DB coach Nick Howell to the DC spot:
Look for Vanderbilt to give strong consideration to DB coach Nick Howell for the DC job. He has nine years experience as a DC, most recently at UVA. https://t.co/2rx44KcyTS
