The Michigan Wolverines have been trying to put together the pieces of a puzzle blown up upon the shocking firing of former coach Sherrone Moore on Dec. 10 – including preparing for the upcoming Citrus Bowl matchup against Texas on New Year’s Eve (3 p.m. ET, ESPN). Missouri has hired Lindsey away from Michigan, and Lindsey won’t be sticking around for the bowl game.

That preparation gained clarity Sunday when a decision was made on whom would serve as offensive coordinator against the 13th-ranked Longhorns, as CBS Sports reported that Steve Casula would take the reins of the 18th-ranked Wolverines offense.

Casula served as co-offensive coordinator with Chip Lindsey during Michigan’s 2025 season and also coached the Wolverines tight ends – the job he was brought in to perform prior to the 2024 season. He was the Massachusetts offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2022-23, and previously served at Ferris State, Davenport, Colgate, Western Michigan and Delaware.

Michigan (9-3) ranked 56th nationally in total offense in 2025 at 398.9 yards per game and 70th in scoring offense at 27.6 points per outing.

Moore was fired after revelations of an extramarital affair with a co-worker, a bombshell that grew bigger when he was arrested following an alleged break-in at the co-worker’s home.
