Mike Elko, Texas A&M considering offensive line shakeup during fall camp
Mike Elko revealed on Tuesday during the early days of fall camp that, just maybe, his offensive line isn’t quite set for the 2025 season.
The Texas A&M head coach told reporters why starting left tackle Trey Zuhn III, who was named to the preseason watch list for the Outland Trophy last week, has been getting reps at center during fall camp. The Outland Trophy is presented annually to the best interior lineman in college football, and just maybe Zuhn will be seeing some snaps at center for the Aggies this fall and not just playing exclusively at left tackle.
“We’ve done that quite a bit, going back to the spring. It’s part of the conversation. We move kids around a lot so that we can always ensure that the best 5 kids are out there,” explained Mike Elko of the offensive line movement in fall camp. “There’s certainly lineups that have Dametrious Crownover and Rueben Fatheree as part of the best 5. Now whether that’s the first 5 or 1 injury in or 2 injuries in, I don’t know. Competition will determine all of that.
“But there’s certainly the need to have some flexibility with Trey.”

The 6-foot-7, 320-pound senior is back in College Station for his last season of college football, and Zuhn is projected as a 1st- or 2nd-round selection in next spring’s NFL Draft. Last season, Zuhn helped pave the way for a Texas A&M offense that churned out over 2,500 yards both passing and rushing. He’s a top-notch talent at left tackle and while Mark Nabou is the presumed starter at center on what is expected to be an elite offensive line, it seems that’s far from decided.
Where Zuhn ultimately ends up this fall will be determined, but based on fall camp so far in College Station, he could be branching out a little from his comfort zone at left tackle.
