Mike Norvell addressed reporters on Wednesday afternoon in Tallahassee, making his first comments since departing Ireland with a 24-21 defeat last weekend.

The Seminoles struggled on both sides of the ball in their shocking loss to Georgia Tech. While speaking with media on Wednesday, Norvell called the loss “sickening” and took full responsibility for the result.

“It’s sickening that we came up short in that game,” Norvell said. “I take total responsibility and ownership for that. You go back and see the game and obviously it’s my job to have the team prepared to go and play to the best of our ability, and I don’t believe that was our best.”

Norvell said the coaching staff is continuing to evaluate the roster and personnel options ahead of FSU’s Week 1 contest against Boston College on Monday.

“I’ve got a lot of confidence in our group,” Norvell said. “Still some things with it being our first game, you get a chance to continue to evaluate personnel and [decide] what are those best units. I think there’s some opportunities for growth there for us as well just with who, when and where guys are playing.

“We will definitely be better in that regard.”

To that end, Florida State released an updated depth chart on Wednesday. The biggest change is at safety, where Conrad Hussey has been named a starter over Davonte Brown. Other changes include Kevin Knowles and Jeremiah Byers locking in starting spots after having an “OR” designation on the depth chart before Week 0.

Florida State is a 16.5-point favorite against Boston College on Monday night in Tallahassee, per DraftKings.
