Minnesota and Indiana were in a tight game all day long, but the Golden Gophers looked like they might win the game in regulation. W

ith the game tied at 13 with 19 seconds left, Luke Drzewiecki buried a 60-yard field goal to take a three-point lead.

With only 19 seconds remaining, quarterback Grant Wilson connected with Charlie Becker to get the ball to the Minnesota 43-yard line. However, there was confusion that Becker didn’t go out of bounds, and the Hoosiers, after an incompletion, were left with only two seconds remaining.

Not to be outdone, Paddy McAteer kicked a field goal of his own from 60 yards, sending the game to overtime.

McAteer isn’t even the starting kicker for the Hoosiers, but he is the long range field-goal kicker on the roster.

In today’s college football, kicking is widely inconsistent. To have two field goals of 60 yards made in the final 19 seconds of regulation is something that hasn’t happened in decades, if ever, at the collegiate level.

In overtime, Wilson and Becker connected on a 25-yard pass to take a 23-16 lead on the first play of overtime. The Golden Gophers were able to get 2nd and down on the three-yard line, but the Hoosiers held strong on fourth down to get the win.
