Mississippi State’s prized 5-star defensive end from the 2016 recruiting class, Jeffrey Simmons,ย will not appearย in Municipal Court today as scheduled, per WTVA.com. The court date will be continued at a later date.

Simmons awaits a resolution on misdemeanor charges, which were the result of him using physical force in an effort to break up a domestic fight between his sister and another adult woman back in March.

Earlier this month, the university announced that Simmonsย is allowed to beย part of the football team but stated that licensed professionals at the schoolโ€™s Student Counseling Services will evaluate him. Heโ€™ll be required to complete any program prescribed to him by that office, and heโ€™ll be suspended for the first game of his college career.

Simmons was the No. 3 player at his position from the ’16 class, serving as the state of Mississippi’s top overall prospect. The former U.S. Army All-American picked the Bulldogs over Alabama, Ole Miss, and many others.
