Mississippi State announces hiring of former Kentucky OC to Jeff Lebby’s staff
Mississippi State continued its preparations for the 2026 season even as we’re still in 2025 by announcing on Wednesday morning that it hired veteran offensive mind Bush Hamdan as its new associate head coach for offense.
Hamdan has been around the coaching block a few times, with 17 years of experience in college football and the NFL to his credit. Bulldogs head coach Jeff Lebby announced the hire and will lean on Hamdan’s strong reputation for being a mastermind in coaching up quarterbacks and wide receivers.
Lebby will also draw on Hamdan’s bevy of experience in the SEC, as well as his Power 4 coaching experience and his time in the NFL. Included in Hamdan’s past SEC portfolio are stops at Kentucky and Mizzou. Hamdan has also been on the staffs at Boise State and Washington, and his dip into the pro football waters came with the Atlanta Falcons.
The Mississippi State football community officially welcomed Hamdan to Starkville with this post on Wednesday morning:
Hamdan didn’t leave the SEC too long ago, having spent the 2024 season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Kentucky. That came after Hamdan’s landmark 2023 season at Boise State, where he directed 1 of the best offenses in recent Broncos football history, which is saying something.
During that magical 2023 season under Hamdan, Boise State scored 30 or more points in 9 consecutive games.
Three seasons later, Hamdan will be using his talents in Starkville, where he hopes to have the same success in the world of the SEC.
