Braylon Burnside committed to Mississippi State in June, but now he is reopening his recruitment.

A Starkville High School standout, Burnside took to social media on Monday to announce that “due to unforeseen circumstances” he won’t be living out his dream of playing for the Bulldogs.

“I would like to thank Mississippi State and the entire coaching staff for the love and support throughout the entire process,” Burnide wrote in a note posted on X. “I would like to thank the hometown for the loyalty and love that you all showed me. I have been committed to Mississippi state since June 2023. I’ve dreamed about playing in Davis Wade Stadium for a long time, but God has another plan. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am decommitting from Mississippi State and reopening my recruitment. I will not take any further comments until I have further clarity into my future. I ask that you please respect my family and I during this time. Thank you all and God Bless.”

Burnside is listed as measuring over 6-feet and 185 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Burnside is rated 4-stars, the No. 7 recruit in the state of Mississippi, No. 13 ATH and No. 220 prospect overall in the Class of 2024. While ATH is used as a multi-position designation, Burnside’s social media bio read 4-star wide receiver.

As a prospect, Burnside has picked up 21 scholarship offers. Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Texas A&M are among the other schools that have shown interest.
