The No. 19 Missouri Tigers are gearing up for what could end up being the biggest game of their entire season against the No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies in Week 11, and they also just got a big win on the recruiting trail.
According to Rivals recruiting insider Hayes Fawcett, highly coveted 3-star cornerback Jaxson Gates has officially flipped his commitment from the BYU Cougars to Mizzou.

A La Verne, California native, Gates ranks as the 56th-best cornerback recruit in the nation for the 2026 cycle per 247Sports Composite rankings, and he had been committed to the Cougars since July.
The rangy defender was on campus in Columbia on September 27 for an official visit during the Tigers’ 42-6 beatdown of the UMass Minutemen, and he now becomes the 6th flip for Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz during this cycle.
Gates also holds offers from 14 other programs around the nation, including Mississippi State, Michigan State, Utah, and Syracuse, the latter of which he was committed to for a brief period before he flipped to BYU.
Mizzou now has 21 commits in the class of 2026. The class as a whole ranks No. 24 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
