Mizzou OL Cayden Green spotted in walking boot ahead of South Carolina game
Cayden Green was not on the initial availability report Mizzou released on Wednesday. He was a new addition to the report on Thursday, though he was listed as probable. By Saturday morning, Green was ruled out.
We now know why.
Prior to Saturday’s Week 4 contest against South Carolina, Green was spotted on the sidelines with a walking boot on his right foot and a sleeve over the entirety of his right leg. It’s not immediately clear what issue is plaguing Green.
With their starting left tackle out of commission, the Tigers will work in a new lineup along the offensive line. Jayven Richardson worked with the first-team unit at left tackle in pregame warmups.
Richardson, a redshirt junior, has played just 44 snaps this season — all of them at tackle. He has a 77.2 overall offensive grade from PFF and a 78.7 pass-blocking grade.
The 6-foot-6, 313-pound lineman saw time in 6 games last season for the Tigers. He played in 3 career games in 2 years at Hutchinson Community College prior to arriving at Mizzou.
Against star South Carolina edge rusher Dylan Stewart, a new left tackle is not ideal. Green is tied for the team lead in blocking snaps this season. He’s also the Tigers’ second highest-graded lineman, according to PFF.
Kickoff against the Gamecocks is set for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
