On Monday after Mizzou’s practice, coach Eli Drinkwitz revealed some bad news about a pair of Tiger receivers.
He said Ohio State transfer Mookie Cooper would be out a couple weeks while dealing with a lower leg injury. He added that Jay Maclin would miss 3-4 weeks with a fracture of his orbital bone.
However, after that press conference, a Mizzou spokesperson clarified that Maclin’s injury was a broken forearm, not an orbital bone issue:
Per a #Mizzou spokesperson, Jay Maclin’s injury is a broken forearm, not a broken orbital bone as Eli Drinkwitz had said after practice.

Maclin’s availability for Week 1 is in question, but if he’s not ready to go against Central Michigan on Sept. 4, it seems he’d return shortly thereafter.
Maclin figures to see more time at receiver and could contribute in the return game in 2021.
