Missouri’s offense will need to lean on its depth for a couple weeks, as a pair of key receivers are recovering from serious injuries.

Coach Eli Drinkwitz told reporters Monday that WR Jay Maclin is out 3-4 weeks with fracture of his orbital bone, while WR Mookie Cooper is out with a lower leg injury, and could be out 10-14 days or more. He hopes both will be back for game week but is not certain, Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

The Tigers already had a remade receiving corps this season, and Maclin was expected to grow into a larger role on offense. He got a taste last season in 3 games, but the group coming out of spring had 5 freshmen and sophomores in the mix.

Cooper was an elite recruit coming out of St. Louis, but transferred from Ohio State in order to land more playing time away from the crowded Buckeyes receivers room.

A 4-star prospect, Cooper was ranked the No. 4 player in Missouri in the 2020 class and the No. 16 wide receiver in the country in the Class of 2020, according to the 247Sports Composite. He originally committed to Texas before he flipped to Ohio State and signed with the Buckeyes.
