Missouri football has suspended freshman linebacker JJ Bush indefinitely after he was arrested Monday night.

Bush was arrested for aggravated fleeing, which is a Class D felony, as well as careless and imprudent driving, which is considered a Class B misdemeanor in Missouri.

According to the Columbia Daily Tribune, Bush was stopped by officers after being observed travelling at “approximately 80 mph” Monday night with a posted speed limit of 40 mph. He was then pursued by the arresting officer for 24 seconds, coming to a stop when blocked by traffic.

Bush reportedly responded to officers’ inquiry on why he did not immediately stop by saying he did not realize he was being stopped and did not continue speeding, insisting “that’s just how my car is.”

“We are disappointed in JJ’s actions,” Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz said regarding Bush, via the report. “He is indefinitely suspended from the team as the legal process plays out.”

Bush is a former 4-star prospect and one of the top-rated prospects in Missouri’s Class of 2026 haul. He was considered the No. 377 overall prospect in the cycle and the No. 28 overall linebacker.
