Mizzou had one of the most dominant performances of Week 5 on Saturday, as the Tigers routed previously-undefeated Florida 45-17 for the program’s biggest win against an AP Top 10 in school history.
Not only did they dominate them on the field, but they took a shot at the Gators over the speakers as well.
During the fourth quarter, with the game out of reach, Missouri played Tom Petty’s ‘I Won’t Back Down’ song, while showing Florida fans on the jumbotron. The song is a staple at Florida home games, as it traditionally plays in between the third and fourth quarters.
The Tigers dominated the game in nearly every facet. Austin Simmons was outstanding, finishing 23-of-30 for 340 yards and two touchdowns. Combine that with Jamal Roberts 211-yard, three touchdown performance, and the Tigers offense was nearly unstoppable.
Equally as impressive was the defense holding Florida star running back to 13 yards on 12 carries.
For Missouri fans, Saturday was about as fun of day as you could have. Now, the Tigers will have to look to end a streak of SEC teams losing the following week after a big win when they host the Texas A&M Aggies next week.
