Mizzou’s Tre Williams says freshman Chris Turner reminds him of Shane Ray

As the Missouri Tigers try to replace star DE Charles Harris, they are considering a lot of options for the second defensive end spot alongside Marcell Frazier.

Senior Jordan Harold is the current favorite to start, but according to STLToday.com writer Dave Matter, a freshman defensive end is standing out in practice.

In fact, after Saturday’s scrimmage, redshirt freshman DE Tre Williams told Matter that true freshman Chris Turner reminds him of a former Mizzou star:

“He reminds me a lot of Shane Ray,” Williams said of Turner after Saturday’s scrimmage.

Considering Ray had 19 sacks in his three years in Columbia, that’s high praise for the true freshman.

It’s unclear whether he’ll see much playing time as a freshman this fall, but if he continues to improve, he could be an impact player sooner rather than later.
