Mother of South Carolina freshman quarterback lashes out at writer following article on her son

JC Shurburtt wrote an article for 247Sports on Tuesday titled “Don’t give up on Brandon McIlwain,” which can be found here.
The article urges the Gamecocks to keep the freshman quarterback in the mix as they take a look at another freshman quarterback, Jake Bentley, this weekend.
However, McIlwain’s mom, Lena, took issue with Shurburtt’s article and lashed out at him on Facebook on Tuesday afternoon:

McIlwain has thrown for 567 yards and two touchdowns this season. He’s added 98 yards and two more scores on the ground.
South Carolina hosts UMass on Saturday at noon. The game can be seen on the SEC Network.
