Report: Mullen only talking contract with Stricklin, Miss. St.

Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen has been adamant that he’s not interested leaving Starkville for another job.
He said it after his Bulldogs defeated three straight top 10 teams earlier this season, and he reiterated at the end of the year.
Following Monday’s Orange Bowl practice, Mullen was asked again about the possibility he leaves for another opening, and once again Mullen insisted he’s staying put.
According to a report by Bob Carskadon of Hail State Beat, Mullen refuted any reports linking his name to various job openings around college football.
Mullen also told Carskadon “the only person I’ve talked to about any job is (Mississippi State athletic director) Scott Stricklin.” The report states those talks have been positive.
Mullen led the Bulldogs to their first 10-win regular season in more than 70 years this season, and will lead MSU to a school record fifth straight bowl game when the it plays in its first Orange Bowl since 1941.
He also led the Bulldogs to a five-week run at No. 1 in the polls, marking the first time in history Mississippi State was ever ranked No. 1 in a major poll.
“We want to reward Dan for the job he’s done and continue to invest in not just him but also his entire staff,” Stricklin told Carskadon. “Our meetings have been productive and I’m optimistic we’ll soon have a deal both parties will be happy with.”
