Nate Frazier receives gameday injury update ahead of Vanderbilt matchup

The Georgia Bulldogs dismantled the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 5 without the assistance of running back Nate Frazier. Kirby Smart‘s star rusher reportedly missed the Sooners contest due to a rib injury sustained against the Arkansas Razorbacks. As we near kickoff in Athens, that ailment could keep Frazier out of action a second time.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos and Chris Low, Frazier is a game-time decision for Saturday’s game vs. Vanderbilt. The junior running back was also a game-time decision for last week’s battle with Oklahoma.

Frazier has seen a limited workload due to Georgia’s dominance in September. He has just 24 carries, but has posted 202 yards (8.4 YPC) and five touchdowns on those touches.

The Bulldogs, who are 25.5-point favorites over the Commodores, presumably don’t have reason to rush Frazier back to the field, especially with Alabama looming next weekend. If Frazier is held out, Chauncey Bowens — one of Georgia’s captains for Saturday’s game — and Dwight Phillips Jr. will handle things in his stead. The two ball-carriers combined for 17 carries, 110 yards and three touchdowns vs. Oklahoma.

Vanderbilt and Georgia kick off at 12:45 p.m. E.T. this afternoon. You can watch the Commodores and Bulldogs on SEC Network.
