The NCAA is apparently closing the book on Trinidad Chambliss’ college football career.

According to a report by Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger on Thursday afternoon, the NCAA has denied a request for a reconsideration by the former Ole Miss star quarterback, who is attempting to gain another season of eligibility and return to the Rebels this fall.

Dellenger’s report explained that Chambliss’ eligibility waiver was denied after the NCAA determined “that the new evidence submitted by the university did not meet the threshold for a reconsideration.”

Chambliss has been attempting to gain eligibility for a 6th season of college football after leading Ole Miss to within 2 victories of a national championship last season in his first year as the Rebels’ starting quarterback. According to Dellenger’s report, Chambliss won’t get the chance to lead Ole Miss back toward the promised land this fall.

“Chambliss has now had his waiver, appeal and reconsideration denied,” Dellenger wrote in his social media post. “The QB is in the midst of a court hearing in Mississippi seeking a preliminary injunction to prohibit the NCAA from enforcing its eligibility standards and granting him a sixth year of eligibility.”

Should Chambliss not return to college football in 2026, he has a great chance to be a top pick in this spring’s NFL Draft. According to Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department, Chambliss was rated as the No. 4 quarterback in this draft class. That projection would place Chambliss as a 3rd-round pick in the draft.
