Nic Claxton hit a game-winning shot for the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night.
With just a few seconds remaining in the game, Nets guard Keon Johnson hoisted up a 3-point shot for the win. The shot bounced off the rim, but caromed directly to Claxton, who managed to finish a tip-in opportunity for the win at the buzzer.
Here’s a replay of Claxton’s big shot:
This game was a bright spot in an otherwise difficult season for the Nets. Brooklyn traded multiple key pieces earlier in the year, including Dorian Finney-Smith and Dennis Schroder, as it looks to rebuild. They’re not on track to make the playoffs this season, but players like Claxton and Cam Johnson have kept the Nets competitive in 2024-25.
Claxton is in his 6th NBA season out of Georgia. He was a 1st-round pick back in 2019 and has developed into a starting-caliber big in the NBA. Just last offseason, he signed a 4-year, $97 million contract with the Nets. He’s averaging 10.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season.
Georgia, while not known for its basketball program, has an impressive contingent of former players in the NBA. The group is led by T-Wolves star Anthony Edwards, but the Bulldogs also produced a couple other excellent role players in Blazers forward Toumani Camara and Magic guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
