Nick Honor explains why Missouri is bringing an ‘extra little chip’ to SEC Tournament

Nick Honor and the Missouri Tigers are carrying an extra chip on their shoulder to the SEC Tournament, which is to be hosted in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Tigers, the 4-seed in the tournament, finished the season 11-7 in the conference under the eye of first-year Missouri head coach Dennis Gates. The former Cleveland State head coach led the Tigers to their best regular season finish (23-8) since 2012. And that’s just in Year 1.
Honor explained why the team is carrying that chip on their shoulder Tuesday, insinuating they feel Gates should have been named coach of the year over Texas A&M’s Buzz Williams and Vanderbilt’s Jerry Stackhouse. At the same time, Honor feels the All-SEC voting was disrespectful to some of the Tigers players.
Only Kobe Brown received All-SEC honors, receiving a 1st-team selection.

How will the Tigers fare in the SEC Tournament?
The Tigers, on paper, have a tough path to the SEC Title. They’re on the same side of the bracket as Tennessee and Alabama, but that doesn’t mean the Tigers are out for the count.
Tennessee is 4-6 in its last 10 games and Alabama has faltered slightly heading into the tournament. They were destroying opponents earlier in the season, but needed overtime to beat South Carolina and Auburn to end the regular season. The Crimson Tide is still wildly talented and the favorite to win the conference.
The Tigers finished the season on a 4-game winning streak, locking up the 4-seed with a win over Ole Miss and some help from Auburn against the Volunteers. They’ll face off against one of Tennessee, Ole Miss or South Carolina Friday in the quarterfinals.
