One of the most bizarre rumors of this offseason involved former Tennessee coach Butch Jones and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Now, though, it appears Jones joining Nick Saban’s staff is no longer a rumor, as the six-time national champion spoke about it on Wednesday at Alabama’s pro day.

Saban said he’s not sure if it will happen, but did say that he is interested in bringing Jones to Tuscaloosa (via AL.com):

“I don’t know where that is,” Saban said Wednesday. “We have issues that we need to go through to be able to hire somebody from another school. I haven’t gotten a report on where that is right now. We are interested in him being a part of our staff.”

Jones’s last year in Knoxville didn’t go very well, but Saban has never shied away from hiring experienced coaches as analysts.

It’ll be interesting to see if Jones can rehab his image in Tuscaloosa like Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkisian and many others have done.
