Miami quarterback Carson Beck has moved into the Heisman Trophy conversation through 3 weeks of the 2025 season. The Georgia transfer ranks second nationally with a 79.3% completion rate, is 11th nationally with a 183.5 quarterback ranking, and his 812 passing yards are good for 26th in the country.

Analysts Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit broke down Beckโ€™s efficiency on ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday morning, pointing out that Beck appears more poised while surrounded by more talented teammates than he did at times with the Bulldogs.

โ€œHe is very comfortable, heโ€™s very confident,โ€ Saban said. โ€œSometimes in the past, the big thing you wanted to do was make him move his feet that affected his accuracy. Now he has better players around him, and he is very comfortable in the pocket and confident in what he is doing in the offense. The guy plays smart, he is always well-prepared, and he is making a lot of good decisions.โ€

Beck has led the Hurricanes to a 3-0 record and No. 4 national ranking heading into tonightโ€™s home game against 1-2 Florida (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC) โ€“ including setting a Miami single-game record for consecutive completions this season after hitting 15-straight passes against Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 6. That broke Heisman winner Vinny Testaverdeโ€™s mark of 14 straight set in 1986.

โ€œTo me, this one shows great tenacity as a quarterback and toughness,โ€ Saban continued while describing a play in Miamiโ€™s against South Florida. โ€œThis is a tremendous throw on the sail route. He is getting hit and throws a strike, another explosive play. It shows a lot of tenacity by the quarterback.โ€

โ€œThe guy is doing everything right now,โ€ Herbstreit added.
