Nick Saban names 2 teams who have ‘separated’ from the pack entering Week 10
Nick Saban has seen enough college football this season and certainly in his lifetime as arguably the greatest coach in the sport’s history.
Now an ESPN college football analyst, Saban also knows a lot about elite teams at this point in the season as we hit November. The 7-time national championship-winning coach went on The Pat McAfee Show for his weekly Friday appearance and proclaimed that 2 teams have “separated” themselves from everybody else as November arrives.
One of those teams shouldn’t surprise anybody. It’s top-ranked and defending national champion Ohio State, which is 7-0 as it locks in on Saturday’s Week 10 home showdown against Penn State in a noon ET kickoff on FOX.
The other team? It’s a squad that not a lot of people thought would be where it’s at right now, this late in the season. It’s Texas A&M, the 3rd-ranked team in the country which is 8-0 and on a bye this week. The high-octane Aggies are led by dynamic quarterback Marcel Reed, who is 1 of the leading contenders for the Heisman Trophy.
“He’s playing great,” said Saban about Reed. “I would say the two teams that have separated themselves from the pack to me is Ohio State and Texas A&M. Marcel Reed has been a big part of that. This guy is a special talent, man. This guy can beat you with his feet. This guy is an unbelievably talented athlete. They’ve got the skill guys now. So, I think this is a really good team.”
Saban, who celebrated his 74th birthday on Halloween, also compared Reed to another dynamic NFL quarterback, Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens.
“This guy reminds me of somebody that plays for the Baltimore Ravens that has turned the NFL upside down for several years now,” Nick Saban said.
