Alabama started the year off slow, losing to home at Texas and then struggling mightily against South Florida. However, the team stayed together and continued to get better. Never was the improvement more noticeable than in Saturday night’s 42-28 victory against LSU in Tuscaloosa.

The win was already special because Saban had a birthday last Tuesday, but it was also a record-setting win for him. With the win, he has now won 202 games at Alabama, which is the second-most in SEC history with a single program.

He passed former Georgia coach Vince Dooley for 2nd all-time at one SEC school. He now trails only former Alabama coach Bear Bryant, who had 232 wins with the Tide.

Quarterback Jalen Milroe was fantastic in the game, and set an Alabama record with 4 rushing touchdowns. Milroe finished the game with 219 passing yards, while also rushing for 155 yards and the 4 scores.

The win avenged a 32-31 overtime loss to the Tigers last season, and gave Alabama 11 wins in the last 13 games against LSU.

Alabama is currently tied in the SEC West with Ole Miss, but have the tie-breaker with the win on September 23. The Crimson Tide hit the road to take on Kentucky next Saturday.
