Nick Saban has moved into his media role flawlessly, as he has become a huge part of ESPN’s College GameDay. On Saturday, he was asked on the segment what team in college football he views as a team that is a College Football Playoff sleeper.
Saban was very confident in his answer, going with one of his old coaching jobs, as he is all in on what Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers are doing right now.
LSU has bounced back very nicely since the loss to Kentucky, as the Tigers have won consecutive SEC games by a combined score of 69-17. In their most recent game, they beat Auburn, 38-17, the week after Alex Golesh’s team had upset Georgia.
Sam Leavitt has stopped turning the ball over and is playing as good a football as any quarterback.
The Tigers are off this week, but they control their destiny in December. They have two huge home games to start the month against Alabama and Texas. Those are tough games, but Kiffin’s team is starting to play its best football, and everything is still right in front of them.
Seeing Nick Saban pick LSU may have surprised fans, but this is a pick that could absolutely happen.
