Nick Saban reportedly being inducted into Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame
Nick Saban will be inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 28, according to a report from Tiger Rag’s Glenn Guilbeau.
The legendary head coach was formally added to the Hall back in 2019 but had not been able to make it to in Natchitoches for the official in-person induction ceremony. Now that he’s retired from coaching, he’ll finally be able to check that box off. According to Guilbeau, an official announcement by the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame is expected later on Wednesday.
Nick Saban spent 5 seasons at LSU, from 2000-04. The Tiger program he inherited went 3-8 the year prior and 4-7 the year before that. By Year 2, Saban had led LSU to 10 wins. In 2003, he led LSU to a 13-1 record and its first national championship in nearly 50 years.
He’d go on to win 6 more national championships with Alabama before retiring after the 2023 season.
“I’m thrilled and honored,” Saban said of the Hall of Fame selection in 2019. “It is a privilege to be joining so many great people in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, especially because of the great relationships we built there. I’m very, very flattered by this.”
Since leaving Alabama, Saban has worked for ESPN as an analyst on College GameDay, work that recently earned him an Emmy nomination.
