On Saturday night in Atlanta, No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 Florida State are set to face off in the biggest matchup of Week 1.
Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban joined ESPN’s College GameDay crew on Saturday morning to discuss what he’s looking for out of his squad in their opening game.
He said he understands the hype around the matchup, but added that he’s looking to see how his players handle the pressure:
“It’s a big game, there’s a lot of hype around the game,” he said. “The big thing for me is can the players stay in the moment? Can they focus on the things they need to focus on? Do they have the will to win?”
In the debut game at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium and in front of a huge national TV audience, nerves will be high for the Crimson Tide and Seminoles alike.
The game may come down to which team is able to stay calm and execute their plays at the highest level.
Tonight’s big matchup kicks off at 8 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ABC.
