The Alabama Crimson Tide won the SEC championship on Saturday night, knocking off 2-time defending national champion Georgia, 27-24. The win by Alabama ended a 29-game winning streak for the Bulldogs, and now, Georgia may not be in the College Football Playoff to defend its championship.

In the win, cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry suffered a head injury. After the game, coach Nick Saban talked about the injury status of his star corner.

“Kool-Aid has a concussion,” Saban said. “So he goes into the concussion protocol. We will find out how bad it is, how long it takes and when we clear. All the testing mechanisms are really beneficial to players not getting multiple concussions. Our medical staff has always done a really good job of protecting our players when these things happen.”

McKinstry is one of the best cornerbacks in all of college football, and he had 2 tackles in the win against Georgia.

While the team continues to wait and see what its College Football Playoff situation is, the injury update on McKinstry is definitely something important to keep an eye on. Regardless of where the Crimson Tide are playing, the team figures to have around a month off before their next game.
