Oklahoma has received a commitment from Alliance (Ohio) High quarterback Brendan Zurbrugg.
A 6-foot-4, 185-pound recruit in the 2024 class, Zurbrugg had been committed to Northwestern since late June. But, he decided to re-open his recruitment in light of the hazing allegations against the football program and subsequent dismissal of head coach Pat Fitzgerald. He recently visited Norman and decided to pull the trigger on Tuesday.
Syracuse was also in the mix, hosting him for an official visit back in June. He had committed to the Orange on June 18th but flipped to the Wildcats 8 days later.

Zurbrugg is a 3-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite and ranked as the No. 55 quarterback in the class. He’s also the No. 36 prospect from the state of Ohio and the No. 884 prospect overall in the national player rankings.
He was selected to the All-Ohio team following a junior season that saw him complete 76% of his passes for 2,184 yards and 23 touchdowns. He added 804 yards and 11 more scores on the ground.
The Sooners now hold 18 known commitments in the 2024 cycle. Zurbrugg is the second quarterback in the class, joining McKinney (Texas) Frisco Emerson’s Michael Hawkins. You can see Zurbrugg’s high school tape below, via Hudl:
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
