Oklahoma great, Sooners RB coach DeMarco Murray linked to NFL job
Known widely for his days as a star running back at both the collegiate and professional levels, DeMarco Murray may be on his way to doing the same in the coaching ranks.
Murray has served as the RBs coach at his alma mater, Oklahoma, for the past six seasons, but as CBSSports’ Matt Zenitz reported, the former Dallas Cowboys tailback has become a candidate for the Kansas City Chiefs’ role.
Murray began his coaching career as a running backs coach at Arizona in 2019 before he took on the same gig in Norman in 2020.
The former Sooner ran for 3,685 yards while in college, also reaching the 50-touchdown mark over his 4-year career.
While in the NFL, Murray played for 3 different teams but was best known for his years with the Cowboys. He posted a league-leading 1,845 rushing yards to go along with 13 touchdowns in 2014, his final season in Dallas.
Over his 7-year professional career with the Cowboys, Eagles and Titans, Murray racked up 7,174 rushing yards, 2,165 receiving yards and 55 total touchdowns.
The Chiefs are in pursuit of a coach that can step in and spark a struggling rushing attack, as the club ranked in the bottom 10 of the league in ground yards per game with 106.6.
