Ole Miss had FBI sweep for bugs after Lane Kiffin’s departure, per NIL director

Lane Kiffin and drama go together like peanut butter and jelly. His 2025 end-of-season saga with Ole Miss would be the craziest event for the majority of coaches in any sport. For him, it may not crack the top three. The latest footnote on the Kiffin-Rebels mess, though, came not from LSU’s new coach, but Ole Miss’ NIL director.
On an episode of the Assorted Crackers podcast, Grove Collective executive director Walker Jones revealed he had the FBI sweep Ole Miss’ facility for bugs following Lane Kiffin‘s departure.
“I remember getting on my knees… looking underneath the desk… is there some sort of bug in my office?” Jones recounted. “Somebody was like, ‘What are you doing?’ I’m like, ‘You just trust me. You don’t know this guy like I did.'”

Jones also discussed the nature of Kiffin leaving, suggesting his actions during the weeks leading up to Ole Miss’ College Football Playoff debut spoke louder than words he delivered at other points in his Rebel tenure.
“If Ole Miss is as special to you… as you said it was — which I believe there was some truth to that — then why are you literally going to try to burn it to the ground within minutes of it not being about you anymore?” Jones asked. “I guess that’s what you do if you’re the LSU head coach. You try to destroy your opponent, your rival.”
Saying Ole Miss will be trying to destroy LSU when the Tigers come to town on Sept. 19 may be an understatement. Kickoff between the Rebels and Tigers is set for 7:30 p.m. E.T. on ABC.
