Ole Miss is set to hire Chris Norris as a special teams analyst, according to a report.
That’s per CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, who notes that Norris worked at Arkansas over the past 2 seasons. The former Nebraska full back also previously worked at Western Carolina and Oregon.
Ole Miss coach Pete Golding seems to be placing a specific emphasis on special teams as he enters his first full season at the helm. Special teams were a strength for the Rebels in 2026. They ranked No. 1 nationally in special teams efficiency, according to ESPN’s SP+ ratings.
Ole Miss also has a special teams coordinator on staff in Jake Schoonover, although he also has assistant head coach and nickelbacks coach responsibilities. Norris will presumably allow Schoonover to do more work in other areas in addition to his special teams duties.
Ole Miss is gearing up for a big 2026 campaign. The Rebels will be looking to build on one of their biggest seasons in program history. Ole Miss will open the 2026 season against Louisville in Week 1.
Over on Kalshi, there’s already markets up on which top teams will make the College Football Playoff in 2026:
