While junior linebacker Matt Rolin is no longer a member of the football team, there appear to be no hard feelings between the Gators and the former touted recruit.

After the school announced Rolin’s intentions to leave the program Monday, the former Virginia linebacker tweeted this message out to prospective recruits interested in potentially playing in Gainesville:

During his Monday afternoon press conference, Florida head coach Jim McElwain addressed Rolin’s decision and revealed the junior plans to stay in school and finish his degree before leaving the university entirely.

“He just kind of lost the love of the game. He’s going to stay and graduate, should be done actually this semester if he chooses to use his time right,” McElwain said. “And that’s kind of the goal for him now.”

Strong show of class by the Gator defender after his once promising career was beset with injuries. Rolin missed the entire 2013 and 2014 seasons due to injuries before making his debut appearance for the Gators last season.
