Paul Finebaum is a big fan of Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.

Smith took the college football world by storm last year as he helped lead the Buckeyes to a National Championship during his true freshman season. He recorded 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns — leading the Big Ten in both categories — across 16 games a year ago.

Entering 2025, Finebaum is prepared to call Smith the best player in the sport. He said as much during an appearance on ‘Get Up’ on Wednesday morning.

“The biggest issue they had last year with Chip Kelly calling the plays was getting him the ball enough,” Finebaum said. “If you remember in the Michigan game, he didn’t get the ball enough in the Texas game. I think that will change this year, but he is without a doubt the best player in the game.”

Here’s a clip from Finebaum’s comments:

Expectations are certainly high for Smith, who enters 2025 as one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy. Smith is priced at anywhere between +900 to +1300, depending on which of the best betting apps you use. The best odds for Smith to win the Heisman currently come from FanDuel.

Ohio State will face Texas in Week 1 to open up the 2025 season.
