Alabama QB Blake Barnett appears to be eager to share his offseason weight gain with his Twitter followers.

Barnett posted a photo of a scale reading 216.7 pounds Saturday. Alabama’s official site shows the 6-foot-5 signal-caller weighed 200 pounds last season.

Since Barnett is sharing the weight gain himself, we’ll assume the added weight is muscle mass – a solid offseason of lifting for the redshirt freshman.

Barnett has been busy since the Crimson Tide’s spring practice wrapped up in April. In May, he worked out with noted quarterback trainer George Whitfield. On July 4, he announced his engagement to pro surfer Maddie Peterson.

We’ll see if the added weight and working with Whitfield will lead to winning the starting quarterback job this fall.
