Pop-Tarts Bowl posts perfect reaction confirming it will remain among CFB bowl lineup
The Pop-Tarts Bowl has quickly become a fan favorite since its rebranding in 2023. When On3’s Brett McMurphy reported on Tuesday that Tony the Tiger and Cheez-It would no longer be the title sponsors for the Sun Bowl and Citrus Bowl, respectively, fans flocked to the comments asking about the Pop-Tarts Bowl’s status.
Fortunately, there’s good news to be had. Wednesday morning, the Pop-Tarts Bowl answered its fans’ pleas with a clip from The Wolf of Wall Street, confirming it’d be part of the 2026-27 bowl lineup.
This, naturally, spawned incredible reaction throughout the Pop-Tarts Bowl’s own comment section. Some fans were merely happy to hear its reign will continue, while others gave it props for its video choice in revealing the news.
The Pop-Tarts Bowl began in 1990 as the Blockbuster Bowl. Its first-ever matchup featured a Bobby Bowden-led Florida State team facing a Joe Paterno-coached Penn State squad.. Over the past 30-plus years, it has held many other names, including the CarQuest Bowl, Mazda Tangerine Bowl, Champs Sports Bowl, Russell Athletic Bowl and even Cheez-It Bowl. For now, though, it’s the Pop-Tarts Bowl. And it ain’t going anywhere.
