Quinn Ewers responds to Sam Leavitt’s quest to prove he’s the ‘better quarterback’
Quinn Ewers has responded to some recent comments made by Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt.
Earlier this week, Leavitt said he “out to prove he’s the better quarterback” in his matchup with Ewers.
On Monday ahead of the Fiesta Bowl matchup between the Sun Devils and Longhorns, Ewers was asked to respond to those comments. He took the high road in his answer.
“I saw it,” Ewers said, referring to Leavitt’s comments. “Congrats to them on a great year and a great season. I’ve watched some of their games and he’s a talented player. They’re a fun offense to watch. I’m excited to be up against him.”
Texas is a big favorite in the betting markets over Arizona State. Ewers and the Longhorns are favored by between 12 and 13 points, depending on the book.
Leavitt did have an excellent season, although he didn’t have to face a tough slate of SEC defenses like Ewers did. Leavitt enters this week ranked 9th nationally in pass efficiency rating after leading Arizona State to a Big 12 Championship.
Ewers, a former 5-star quarterback who has been hyped since his days as a high school prospect, is in his 3rd season as Texas’s starter. He’s thrown for over 8,500 yards during his time with the Longhorns.
Kickoff between these teams is set for 1 p.m. ET on New Year’s Day.
