Everyone knows that Nick Saban and Bear Bryant were 2 of the best coaches ever to walk a college football sideline. Everyone also knows that they did most of their winning with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

But neither of those legendary coaches got their start in Tuscaloosa. Steve Spurrier’s first head coaching job wasn’t at Florida. Lou Holtz had other jobs before landing at Notre Dame.

Today’s quiz is all about the humble beginnings for some of the biggest names in the college football coaching ranks. Not everyone can be a Tom Osborne (Nebraska) or Kirby Smart (Georgia), serving as a head coach at only one school (so far, at least, in Smart’s case).

See if you can name the schools where each of these coaching legends had his first head coaching gig.
