Texas is setting up to have a high-powered rushing attack in 2026, as top transfer portal running back Raleek Brown is reportedly sticking to his commitment to the Longhorns even after Texas added Hollywood Smothers to the roster.

CBS Sports reported Sunday that Brown, who decided to transfer from Arizona State after an All-Big 12 season in Tempe, affirmed his commitment to coach Steve Sarkisian. That means Texas locked up two of the top transfer running backs in the country to complement the passing attack led by Arch Manning.

Brown, who spent his first two seasons at USC from 2022-23 before transferring to Arizona State in 2024, will have one year of eligibility remaining. The 5-foot-9, 195-pounder from Stockton, Calif., piled up 1,141 rushing yards on 186 carries with four touchdowns for the Sun Devils in 2025. He also added 34 receptions out of the backfield for 239 yards and two more TDs.

Smothers, who transferred to Texas earlier Sunday, gained 939 yards on 160 carries with six touchdowns for NC State last season. Smothers, who began his career at Oklahoma in 2023 and flipped his commitment from Alabama to Texas in the current cycle, will have two seasons remaining.
